A foodie's guide to reading whilst juggling a digestive system on the revenge. Food means so much to me that I have been known to literally force feed myself foods I detest the taste of but so desperately wanted to like. I've even been willing to risk gastronomic repercussions - until now.
Reading this has made me ridiculously hungry! I've always forced myself to like capers. I still do not like capers. You've reminded me that I need to read the Anthony Bourdain book. Kitchen Confidential is one of my favourite books of all time but I haven't read A Cook's Tour, which is insane! Have you got a copy of The Silver Spoon? It's a revered Italian recipe book. I've never made anything from it but I loved to look through it and salivate.
I'm so glad it inspired hunger! That's exactly what I wanted, to make readers run to make a meal. I LOVE capers but I wonder if that's due to dipping my toe in the olive pool first! Ah I can always lend you my copy - I read it years ago but it's honestly one of my favourite books after all this time.
I haven't got The Silver Spoon but I will definitely grab myself a copy!
I will literally eat any olive you place in front of me. I'm not keen on fish pie. In fact, I will leave a room that has a fish pie in it. Years ago, Jamie Oliver published a cook book and everyone went crazy for his icky fish pie recipe (with egg!!). Dinner parties were hell for about two years haha.
We are soul sister in the olive love! Haha fish pie isn’t a massive favourite of mine either but my mum definitely made that exacta recipe and I actually always loved the egg! To be honest though, if you grate a bit of cheese on pretty much anything I will scoff it down!
